Front (l to r):  Jeff Carpenter, Bill Quinlan, Davis Murray, Ron Horton, Linda Knowles, Anne Poor

The Cruising Rally Association values the support and dedication of its veterans, those who have participated in multiple sailing events over the years.

To honor the "saltiest" of the veterans, we have initiated "The Order of the Salty Dog." It's a fun way to say "Thank You" to those have participated in seven or more CRA sailing events. In addition, we have compounded the honor by designating our Salty Dogs as "Ocean Masters" by presenting each "Dog" with a shirt emblazoned with the Caribbean 1500 logo and the Ocean Master designation.

Qualifiers come from all parts of the U.S. and Canada. They are male and female, young and old, boat owners, skippers, spouses, partners, and volunteer crew.

Our special Thanks to Loren Thompson, Ron Horton, and David Grove --- the Salty Dogs who came up with the idea for this elite group.

Two Real Salty Dogs ... and Cat!

Completing more than the required seven CRA events for Salty Dog status are:

  • Tink (below left) from Special Delivery sails with her owners, Bill and Diana Quinlan.
  • Brie (below right) from Sapphire sails with his owners, Bill and Linda Knowles
  • And Aristotle, the cat, from Karina, sails with his owners Miles and Anne Poor.
