What Experience Do I Need?If passagemaking is new to you, take a hard look at your qualifications. If you lack offshore miles, make up for it by recruiting more experienced crew members. Expect to sail in winds of 30+ knots for part of any ocean passage. You should be comfortable offshore in both day and night conditions. Every crew member should have sailed on at least one overnight passage before the start. If you really want to be a passage maker, We'll help you get ready to go. Our Ocean Sailing Seminars will give you a timeline to departure and help you understand what is important in your preparation process. You will walk away with a list of experts who can answer your questions. Our safety inspectors and on-site rigging, electronics, and sail specialists will assist you in the days before the start. "It's been an invigorating adventure as we learn how to overcome challenges and work together by recognizing each others strengths. We are grateful to the folks at home who helped us make this happen and who kept us in their thoughts during the last week. We are especially grateful to Nana Maria for keeping us safe and to Mark and Janel for trusting us to help crew their moving home. Now we get to spend a week exploring this beautiful area - another new experience for us." Kelly Reed & Howard Weiss, Volunteer Crew, Nana Maria |
