THE START: Hampton VASchedule of Events - 2010The Caribbean 1500 Rally Bahamas ClassWhen the fleet gathers at Bluewater Yachting Center in Hampton VA, the docks are abuzz with sailors busy getting ready to begin their offshore adventure. The tent, colorfully decorated with Caribbean 1500 flags signed by cruisers from the two decades of past rallies, hosts briefings each morning and social events each evening. To help, a group of boating specialists in electronics, sail repair, rigging, and engines are on site to assist with the last-minute projects. The staff of the Cruising Rally Association presents information briefings and performs safety inspections. Most of all, new friendships begin to form --- friendships that will build through the winter and last for a lifetime.
