OUR HISTORY

The Cruising Rally Association (CRA) was started in 1990 by Steve Black with the help of friends in Newport, RI. Mimi Dyer and Tony Lush helped to build the structure that exists today. Inspiration was drawn from many sailing events including the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) and the original shorthanded event, the OSTAR. Instrumental in developing the seminar program was Hal Sutphen, a former Director of US Navy Sailing.
